アンゴラは2005年12月にWHO（世界保健機関）が定めたハンセン病患者が国レベルで人口1万人あたり1人未満という制圧目標を達成している。内戦激戦地だったビエ県・カマクパ地区にあるハンセン病患者を診察する病院(2003年訪問)と首都ルアンダの郊外にあるフンダというハンセン病定着村がある（2006年訪問）。

Angola achieved the elimination of leprosy as a public health problem (defined by the WHO as a prevalence rate of less than 1 case per 10,000 people) at the end of 2005. Seen here are patients are being examined for leprosy in 2003 at a hospital in　Camakupa, Bie Province, which saw some of the fiercest fighting in Angola's civil war, and a leprosy community center called Funda on the outskirts of the capital, Luanda, photographed in 2006.
