Republic of Ghana

Ghana achieved the elimination of leprosy as a public health problem (defined by the WHO as a prevalence rate of less than 1 case per 10,000 people) in 1998. About a three-hour drive northeast from the capital Accra is a leprosy settlement called Ho Polyclinic. These photos show the settlement as it was in 2010, when some 70 people lived there.
