ベトナムは1995年にWHOの制圧基準（人口1万人あたりの登録患者が1人未満）を達成している。ハンセン病は外来治療で十分治るが、昔は多くの患者が療養所で治療を受けており、このような療養所がベトナムにはまた20ヵ所（2010年現在）ある。

Vietnam achieved the elimination of leprosy as a public health problem (defined by the WHO as a prevalence rate of less than 1 case per 10,000 people) in 1995.Although leprosy is treatable on an outpatient basis, in the past many patients were treated at sanatoria. As of 2010, there were still 20 sanatoria in the country.
