I am film director Shinya Yamamoto. When I think of leprosy I can still remember watching the film Ben Hur and being shocked when Ben Hur’s mother and sister are forced to live wretchedly in a cave. In the film, they were healed by a miracle, but this film demonstrated that from 2000 years ago there have been people who reach out to care for those affected by leprosy. The people today who are reaching out in the same way and those who are working to eliminate stigma and discrimination of leprosy, they have strived continuously in this way for 2000 years. I think it is our duty now to eliminate the discrimination. THINK NOW LEPROSY.
